About Pickleball

Pickleball is a fascinating court sport played on a badminton-sized court with the net set to a height of 34 inches at the center.  It is played indoors or outdoors with a perforated plastic ball similar to a Wiffle ball and composite or wooden paddles about twice the size of ping-pong paddles.  Importantly, pickleball is easy for beginners to learn but can develop into a fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players.  The game has developed a passionate following due to its friendly, social nature, and its multi-generational appeal.

To get oriented to the game, see the 2018 Pickleball Fact Sheet and/or the 3-minute CBS Early Show video below.  It’s also fun to to be familiar with the game’s 50+ year history and the lore about how it got such an odd name.

Over time, you’ll want to fully understand the rules of the game and player ratings.
