“Trent Pickleball Park:” Help Make it Happen!

Lori Miller and Julie Worthington recently presented the Town of Silverthorne’s SPORT Committee with SCPA’s proposal to convert Trent Park’s two tennis courts into “Trent Pickleball Park,” a dedicated venue with six permanent pickleball courts.  SCPA would raise the funds for the conversion, which would entail permanent nets, partial fencing between courts, and a 7′-wide waiting/spectator area.  View our presentation and full proposal here.

This is a fabulous opportunity for SCPA members and pickleball-playing visitors:  Not just a 50% increase in Trent’s pickleball capacity, but, more importantly all-day-everyday play!   It would provide opportunity for customized drop-in sessions, round robins, skills-and-drills, and perhaps even USAPA-sanctioned tournaments!  And no more playing on tennis lines with finicky temporary nets.

Please plan to attend one or more of the following open houses where park users will be asked to balance the gain from dedicated pickleball courts against the loss of two tennis courts.  Anyone who uses or intends to use Trent Park can weigh in. Bring supportive friends and neighbors along!

  • Sat, Aug 22 at 1-3 PM:  Open house at Trent Park;
  • Thu, Aug 27 at 6-8 PM:  Open house at Smith Ranch; and/or
  • Wed, Sep 16 (time TBD):  Open house at Silverthorne Pavilion.

Please fill out a comment card at Trent Park’s “street stall” Aug 14 – Sep 8.

Please answer the online survey Aug 14-Sep 8 regarding parks, open space and trails needs.

We’ll send out reminders to club members close to the above dates.  Meanwhile, address any questions about the proposal and SCPA’s role to our leads, Lori Miller (lori@summitpickleball.org) and Julie Worthington (Julie@summitpickleball.org).
