SCPA Asks Town Council to Line Rainbow Park Tennis Courts for Pickleball

SCPA’s board continues to work very hard to expand pickleball capacity in Summit County.

Last July we formally proposed to the Town of Silverthorne’s SPORT Committee that Trent Park’s tennis courts be dedicated to pickleball. In December, after five months gathering public input and deliberating, the Committee recommended that the Town Council keep the courts multi-use (tennis and pickleball) but reline them with six pickleball courts, instead of the current four.  The line painting is to take place this summer at the town’s expense.

Although this is not the result we hoped for, we are grateful for the two additional lined courts at Trent. Many thanks to all of you, our members, for your efforts in support of the Trent Park repurpose proposal.

As a follow-up to the Trent Park campaign, on April 27, 2021, SCPA President Lori Miller sent the letter below to Silverthorne Mayor Ann-Marie Sandquist, representing the City Council, asking that Rainbow Park’s tennis courts be shared with pickleball players.

We will let SCPA members know as soon as we hear back from the Mayor. Thank you, as always, for helping us campaign for additional pickleball court capacity.

Meanwhile we welcome suggestions and help toward increasing Summit County’s pickleball capacity.
